Uncle Sam Wants Your Vitamins!
While Americans continue to fight the government takeover of our health care, Senator John McCain announced his plan for the government to regulate all dietary supplements. His Dietary Supplement Safety Act of 2010 calls upon the FDA to regulate dietary supplements as if they are drugs. The language is so sweeping that the FDA would have a free hand to regulate all food products, which are manufactured to supplement nutrition.
Why is McCain doing this? Who benefits? The two biggest beneficiaries are large dietary supplement companies that already have a foothold in the market place and can afford the costs involved in meeting the proposed new standards and pharmaceutical companies who don’t want competition from alternative medicine claims.
Under the provision of the bill, new supplements may be arbitrarily banned by the FDA or adopted by drug companies in a way that would stop them from being sold as supplements at a lower price. The FDA’s relationship with the drug companies is very cozy since they pay its bills.
McCain and his co-sponsor are concerned about the harm the unregulated dietary supplement market is causing. More people are harmed from legal and illegal drugs than they are from supplements. This bill, which overturns some of the protections of a 1994 bill, will only create a black market for vitamins and other supplements. The “war on drugs” will expand to include you, your aging parents, and grandparents.
The Vision to America team is suspicious. Thousands of people die each year waiting on the FDA to approve life-saving drugs. And when the FDA does approve a drug, have you noticed all the risk factors you are warned about? No drug is perfect. Do we really want this bureaucracy telling us what multivitamins or fish oil capsules we can take? Enough is enough. Senator McCain ought to know better.
Let your Senator know where you stand on yet another government intrusion into our private lives by signing our petition to keep Uncle Sam’s hands off our vitamins!
Mr.Mc Cain If Your bill on putting vitamins and minerals on F.D.A. regulation before they can be sold, and prescribed by docter is passed ,I pray t hat you loose when you run for relection. I was told that there were a hand full of americans which attended a conference in Europe TWO OR THREE YEARS AGO,where a law was passed that vitamins and minerals had to be approved by their food and drug adminestration.I was also told that it would be only a question of time before the United States Of America would follow suit. This goes to show that there are supossed concervatives who are actually national socialist not much different from the communist socialist now in power. Both want government ruling over every asspect of your lives. My recomendation is prepare for the worst for it may be coming. You need to be able to feed yourself [ grow a garden ] And be able to protect it and yourself and faimly [buy a gun, lots of ammo and get some trainning ] Warn your friends and neghbors. Some will listen some will not. United we stand divided we fall. America faces perals from within. Where are all those sworne to protect us from enemies forien and domestic they must have thier eyes, ears and minds closed. For now we have the vote to try to heal owr nation but I feel at some point it may take more than that may God help us and blees us.

Senator McCain, I voted for you rather than that clown setting in the White House now. I just wish he would keep his ass there and out of Air Force One so damn much going all over the country and running his mouth with a bunch of BS, spending OUR tax money and raiding my Social Security and Medicare funds.
But Senator, honestly do we need another agency screwing with our privacy and supplements?

I would have been dead in my early 30's had it not been for mega doses of certain supplements. I will celebrate my 77th in Sept.
Our government (along with most of our other institutions) has been co-opted and perverted for a long time now. The more it rots, the more it stinks - therefore many of the usual sleepers are beginning to sense something is wrong. The problem is this: It's too late to really do anything, since the serpents have been in power too long to remove them. They will only be replaced by others like them in most cases. I think the answer is just as simple: Do what the bible says and 'flee Babylon' while there is still time. Babylon/Amerika is too sick to cure - and most are too numb to care.The America I used to feel patriotic about no longer exists. Most still believe that America is still the best place to live - but this is merely wishful thinking. Soon, it will be among the worst. Morally, it is already a 3rd rate nation and the evils that have come - and are yet to come - upon this land are the ancient judgments of God upon a proud, arrogant and sickly country. It is too late for any real repentance and the Judge is standing at the door this very day. Who will be able to stand when His judgments are pronounced? Who will flee the evil that is coming? Who will continue to deceive themselves and keep pretending there is going to be hope arising out of this sewer? (See Lamentations & Isaiah 3:12)
As a woman who nearly died after only four days on Lipitor and who has been using supplements without ill effect for 50 years, I would like Senator McCain to explain why that can possibly be the case. Duh! Come on, Senator, I have been one of your supporters for many years, but this is insane. Can you imagine the health care charges we will all incure if we have to go to a doctor for a prescription every time we want to buy vitamins and minerals. Senator, use your intelligence on this one, please!!! --Wanda

Stop the health reform, it will bankrupt our beloved country. Obama does not care about the American People, otherwise, he would have handled the jobs problem first, not health care. If the people don't have jobs, they can't afford the ins premiums, NO MATTER how small they are and they sure as H____ can't afford the fines, if they can't afford the premiums. Dear Senator McCain,
I voted for you for President and I really thought you were a great choice. However,
I very strongly disagree with you on Government Regulation of the Dietary Supplements
that are readily available to the American People. We need less Government interference
in our lives and the FDA is not the answer to nutrition supplements working or not working.
Please stop this Control measure now!!

As many have noted, dietary supplements (herbs, vitamins, and etc.) are far less likely to cause harm than are the drugs touted for similar purposes. In addition, for many of us "supplements" are far more EFFECTIVE. I vote that anyone who wants to be treated with drugs should be allowed to do so; and anyone who wants to be treated with "supplements" should be allowed to do so. How's that for a step to protect American freedom? (Not to mention American health.)
If Mr. McCain wants to protect the American people, he can start with cleaning house at the FDA. A blessing of "Safe and Effective" by the FDA means absolutely nothing. Let's get back to the basics of clean food, clean water, and clean air and stop poisoning ourselves and we won't have to drug ourselves into oblivion.
Leave vitamins and supplements alone. Why so much intrusion in our lives. People emmigrated their countries, left their families to come to America for freedom. LET FREEDOM RING!!

The Federal Government has it nose in way too much of our business, and anything they become involved in doesn't seem to work anyway. They forget we the taxpayers pay their salary, and will soon be reminded, when election time gets here. The people are fed us and angry with them. 80% of them need to be voted out of office and get a new career!!!!
To protect and preserve our freedom, we need to abolish the Big Brother, US Gov't, or Evil Empire - anyway you call it.
